MARY MARIE LOUISE ST. MARS (formerly COLLINS; nee MONDOR) October 16, 1907 June 6, 2010 After a long, healthy and productive life, Marie St. Mars passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at the Betel Nursing Home in Selkirk at the age of 102. Marie was predeceased by her husband Julian, her parents Louis and Louise Mondor, brother Albert, sisters Beatrice, Minnie, Nora, Toinette, Nelda and Malda and son-in-law Lloyd Gunnlaugson. She will be lovingly remembered by daughter Jeanette Gunnlaugson, son Roy Collins (Olga); five grandchildren Lynette, Darryl (Shirley), Derrick (Lori), Alanna (Garry), Troy; 11 great-grandchildren Maya, Adrian, Tavis, Jason, Matthew, Ainsley (Norman), Jillian (Jason), Derek, Kendra, Tyler, Dylan and four great-great-grandchildren Declan, Jordyn, Brenden and Logan. Marie was born in Mariapolis, MB and moved to Winnipeg at a young age. For many years she worked at the Salisbury House baking pies. Marie and Julian lived in the west end on Beverley Street and after she left Sals she took in boarders, up to four and five at a time. Cooking and baking were her specialties. Marie was liked by all who knew her. She helped many people and never sought reward. Her door was always open to everyone. She had a great sense of humour and was very much a people person. Marie spent the last seven and one half years of her life at the Betel Home in Selkirk. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, care givers, kitchen staff and everyone else that has made the Betel Home a safe, comfortable and enjoyable place to live. Special thanks to Gail and Jack Kelly who have given so much of their time visiting with Marie. She always looked forward to their visits. She often told us how good Gail was to her and how Jack always made her laugh. A celebration of Marie's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
