ALBERT HIRSCHFIELD It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father, Albert Hirschfield on Friday, June 4, 2010 at his home at the age of 73. Remaining to cherish his memory are his sons, Randy (Susan), Wayne (Sheila), Barry (Michele); brother John (Helen); grandchildren, Janice, Laura, Eric (Marcy), Justin and Megan; brothers-in-law, Bill (Rose) and Matt Gushuliak; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Hirschfield and Della Badiuk, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Dad was predeceased by his devoted and loving wife, Lorraine, on January 16, 2010. They were married for over 50 years and we are comforted that they are now together forever. He was also predeceased by his parents, Rudolph and Katrina; brother Martin; sister Pauline; brothers-in-law, Mike (Lena), Nick, and John Gushuliak, Alex Badiuk; sisters-in-law, Anne (Bill) Chubey, Mary (Fred) Melnychuk, and Jackie Gushuliak. Dad was born and raised on the family farm in Sundown, MB. He attended school in Sundown before going off to do numerous jobs. He worked in the bush camps, forestry and occasionally at mechanic shops. He married Mom in 1959 and they settled back in Sundown to farm and raise three sons. When the boys were older, Dad's love of soft ice cream led him to build the A L Sugar Shack in Vita which him and Mom ran for several years while farming at the same time. He later sold the business, sold the cattle, and worked for Kildonan Concrete up until he was near retirement. His retirement years consisted of making hay, gardening, tending to his strawberry patch and helping Mom make perogies. Our Dad was a kind man who enjoyed family and friends. He loved to laugh, tell stories, and you couldn't keep those feet from tapping when some good ol' Ukrainian music' started playing. Dad will forever be in our hearts and our memories. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 11 at 1:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr., Steinbach, MB with Rev. Fr. Miron Pozniak officiating. A private family ash interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Albert may be made to Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Sundown, Sundown, MB R0A 2C0. We love you Dad and always will VICHINAYA PAMYAT Arrangements by Birchwood funeral chapel 1-204-346-1030 or 1-888-454-1030
