Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE THOMSON It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our beloved George on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 59 years. George was born in Dundee, Scotland, April 22, 1951. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Nicoletta; daughters: Tiana and Liana; and sons George (Jill), Greg (Danielle) and Grant and four grandchildren. He also leaves behind sisters: Joan, Margaret (Rick), Helen (John); brother Ian (Shauna); father-in-law Antonio DiMartino; sister-in-law Liliana DiMartino, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Alice Thomson and mother-in-law Fedora DiMartino. George attended Churchill and Vincent Massey High Schools, graduating in 1969. George joined the Boy Scouts at the age of nine, later becoming a member of the Cameron Cadets Pipe Band before joining the St. Andrews Pipe Band. George travelled extensively over the years with the bands. He began his career in retail management, spanning over 25 years and recently working for the City of Winnipeg. In his spare time, George enjoyed reading, sharing stories and spending time with family. He was a very friendly and affectionate person who could be counted on for a warm hug and a good laugh. George was a devoted father, loving husband and a caring friend to all. We were all blessed to have had him in our lives. He will be forever remembered by all who knew him. In keeping with George's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 12 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue with Fr. Sam Argenziano officiating. Entombment will follow in the Assumption Chapel Mausoleum, Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO.
