Born: Feb 26, 2012
Date of Passing: Jun 09, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJULIUS KLASSEN It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Julius Klassen on June 9, 2010. He will be missed by his wife Doris, of 59 years, and children, Sharon (Robert), Carolyn (John), Grant, Donna (Darrell) and Ron (Judie); nine grandchildren, Chris (Karla), Darrell, Scott (Courtney), Jessica (Chad), Colleen, Kristen, Tyler, Andrea and Amy; three great-grandchildren, Kole, Ava and Liam; brother Jack (Irene) and nieces and nephews. Julius was born September 28, 1918 in Lydevka, Arkadak Colony, Russia, the fifth of six children. He was predeceased by his parents Julius and Helena and siblings Helen, Mary, Abe and Frank. The Klassen family came to Canada in 1925 and settled on a farm in Fannystelle, Manitoba. It was here that he farmed, met the love of his life and they raised their five children. In 1974, Julius retired, sold the farm and the family moved to Winnipeg. His family was the most important thing in his life. In his later years he wasn't able to get out as much, but was always interested to find out what everyone in the family was doing. The family would like to thank the emergency staff at the Grace General Hospital, Home Care workers and the EMS Services. Flowers gratefully declined but donations may be made to Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive, Winnipeg, MB, R3J 3E2. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 14, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, with reception to follow. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
