DIANE ELLEN COOK 1943 - 2010 Much too soon, our beloved Mother, Grandma, sister and friend passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on April 6, 2010. Even as a very young girl, Diane had a burning desire to be a nurse. She achieved that dream in 1965 when she graduated from Port Arthur General Hospital with her RN. She then moved on to work in Winnipeg, MB and Kamloops, BC. Diane returned to Winnipeg and joined the staff of The Winnipeg Municipal Hospitals in 1978 and in 1994 found her true calling as a Registered Nurse when she chose to work on the Palliative Care Ward at Riverview Health Centre. Diane's devotion to her patients and their families was evident to all - those she cared for as well as her colleagues and friends. Failing health precipitated her retirement in 2004. Her two boys will remember her as a great Mom who always did the best she could. Her family, as the loving big sister and her friends as an exuberant, outgoing social butterfly, full of life and always ready to lend a hand. We will all remember Diane's penchant for talking and hugging! She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by son Richard, his wife, Susan, her granddaughters, Kaylin and Danielle; son Rennie; siblings Rennie, Janey and Trudy; all her extended family and her many friends. Our thanks to the staff and doctors at CancerCare Manitoba and a very special and heartfelt thank you to the staff on 5E at St. Boniface Hospital for their compassion and attentive care of our beloved Diane. It was at Diane's request that immediate cremation take place and no service be held. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
