LLOYD ATKINSON On Saturday, June 12, 2010, the world lost a true gentleman. Lloyd Atkinson passed away peacefully at Tuxedo Villa at the fine age of 95. Left with happy memories of a life well lived are his son Don; daughters Jane Robinson (Bruce) and Carol Prosk (George); grandchildren Jeff Woelki (Arlette), Amy Baizley (Darren), Adam and Jennifer Prosk; and special friends the Docker and Beuerle families. Lloyd was predeceased by his loving wife Dorothy in April 2006. Together they had enjoyed 64 wonderful years. Lloyd was born in Winnipeg and grew up in the west end. His working years were spent in sales, initially in rural Manitoba with George MacLean, then in Winnipeg with Moore Business Forms. An outgoing character with a twinkle in his eye, he made friends wherever he travelled. After his retirement in 1978, he and Dorothy enjoyed many wonderful summers at their cottage at Dorothy Lake and 14 great winters in Destin, Florida. Lloyd and Dorothy moved into their first home in Wildwood Park in 1948 and it was there that they raised their family and met a group of neighbours who became friends for life. After Dorothy's passing Lloyd was fortunate to be able to live in the family home until January of this year due to the loving care provided by his son Don. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Health Centre and Unit 3 at Tuxedo Villa for the care and compassion over the past few months. A celebration of Lloyd's life will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lloyd's memory can be made to Riverview Health Centre or a charity of your choice.
