HENRY WALL On Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 83 years of age. With profound sadness our family announces the passing of Henry Wall at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, MB after a courageous battle with cancer. Henry was predeceased by his first wife Katherine in 1994, son Laurie in 2003 and son-in-law Geoffrey McCartney in 2009. Left to celebrate his life are his wife of five years, Violet, his children Ervin (Terri-Lee) Wall, Doreen (Allan) Newman, Jennifer McCartney of Regina, SK and daughter-in-law Suzanne Wall; grandchildren Brian (Sandra) and Chad (Jennifer), David (Tompko) and Amber (Darin), Melissa (Chris), Michelle (Kyla) and Matthew, Lauren and Nicholas and five great-grandchildren Tyson and Tanner Wall, Ryan and Emily Ostrowsky, and Maddox Overholt; brothers Martin and Richard, Violet's children, many nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and relatives in Winnipeg, British Columbia and Steinbach area. Henry was born in Mexico June 12, 1927 to Peter P. and Susanna (Penner) Wall, and moved to southern Manitoba with his family at eight years of age. He was known for his loyalty and dedication to his family and deep love and devotion to his wife Violet. Even through the adversity of the loss of sight he walked from Fernwood Place to the hospital every day to see her. Everyone loved and respected him for his wonderful sense of humour, sharp wit, story telling abilities and deep spiritual commitment. Henry was employed by many companies over the years with the latter being Ashdown's / Acklands where he retired after 35 years of service. During his retirement he particularly enjoyed spending time at his farm in Zhoda, MB. He loved to share his time there with family and friends, and show them all the treasures that he collected from auction sale purchases. The funeral service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr., Steinbach on Thursday, June 17 at 2:00 p.m., Cornelius R. Plett officiating. Interment to follow at Heritage Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons Brian and Chad Wall, David Newman, Darin Ostrowsky, Matthew McCartney and Chris Overholt. The family would like to thank the staff at Bethesda Hospital for their care and compassion to Dad and Violet. Dad we will always love and miss you!
