DOREEN FERRATON 1932 2010 Peacefully, on June 15, 2010 in the presence of family, Doreen passed away at the age of 77 at St. Boniface Hospital. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Michelle (Mark), Laurel (Al), Liette (Jim); and son Richard (Brenda); and her granddaughters, Randi, Jamie, Alyssa, Courtney, Eston and Thea. She is survived by her sister-in-law Alice Ferraton of Ottawa and brother-in-law Benjamin Ferraton of Moose Jaw, numerous nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Raoul in 1994. After graduating from University of Saskatchewan, B.A. and University of B.C., B.S.W. Doreen pursued a career in social work in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. She was actively involved with the Catholic Women's League for 49 years; she received life membership in 1989 and the Maple Leaf Award in 2006. Doreen was an integral force and founding member of Alpha House Foundation and remained an active member of the Board of Directors for many years. Alpha House provides second stage housing and support for women and their children in abusive situations. The children would like to thank the staff of St. Boniface Hospital for the excellent care given to their mom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alpha House Foundation, P.O. Box 134 Station L, Winnipeg, MB R3H 0Z4 or a charity of one's choice.
