DORIS ALLAN July 16, 1915 June 17, 2010 It is with great sadness that the family of Doris Lillian Lena Allan (McKay) announce her passing on June 17, 2010 at the Victoria General Hospital following a brief illness. She left us peacefully at the age of 94 years with loved ones by her side. Doris had a zest for life and was known for her sense of humour. Mom was extremely artistic and had a passion for writing poetry and singing. She enjoyed crafts, puzzles, cryptograms, reading and being involved with her Community at Lindenwood Terrace. Mom will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her five children - Paul, Bill (Paula), Lauris (Bryan) Spulnick, Barbara (Frank) Reitz, Wendy (Danny) McDonald; and daughter-in-law Maureen; sister Kay Ghidoni (Anna Maria), Florida; brother-in-law Clyde (Helen) Allan; and sister-in-law Jean Styan. Doris was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren 56 in total. Over the years as the children started school, mom and dad opened their home to many foster children. Doris was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Lorne (1989) and an infant grand-daughter Barbara Marie McDonald (1990). A service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 23 at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. We extend our sincerest thank you to Dr. Thorlakson and Dr. Griffin for your dedication and family centered care. Many thanks to the nursing staff of Victoria General Hospital 5th floor and the staff of ICU- Amanda, Carol, Jackie and Kristen your professionalism, compassion and excellent care made Mom's last days as comfortable as possible. Special thanks to Lois Litz, we will be eternally grateful for your emotional and spiritual guidance. Flowers are gratefully declined but donations may be made to the CNIB.
