Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHLEEN ELSIE CANNELL (DODD) November 12, 1928 - June 13, 2010 It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we announce that Elsie passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Grace Hospital with her family by her side. Elsie was predeceased by her son Dwight, grandson Stephen, parents Frederick and Rosa Dodd, along with her brothers Ernie, Fred, Vernon, Ken, and her sister Peggy. Elsie leaves her loving husband Art, and children Terry (Bruce Wilson), Randy Nelson (Diana) in Switzerland, Gord (Cindy), Karen (Bruce Jamieson), Lori (Ron Hutlet) of Beausejour, Leslie (Blake Appelt), and her brother Jim (Sonya) of Winnipeg Beach. She also leaves numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Elsie was born in Birtle, MB and moved to Winnipeg in 1941. She was proud of the fact that good people came from Birtle. Elsie attended Hugh John McDonald and Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute. Elsie and Art were married for 53 years and lived in Kelowna for 12 years after Art retired. By moving back to Winnipeg, they were able to once again be with family and friends. Elsie and Art were inseparable throughout their lives, that where one was, the was always close behind. They were quite active in their retirement with taking numerous bus trips to Eastern Canada, the United States as well as day trips to Lake of the Woods. They have traveled across Canada and numerous places in the United States. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and health care aides at Grace Hospital in Emergency and on 3 North for their care, kindness and compassion toward Elsie. They would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and health care aides in I.C.U. with a special thank you to Hanna, and Allie, who helped look after Elsie and her family on her final day. Their kind and gentle manner was extremely comforting to the family. In accordance to Elsie's wishes, there will be no service. There will, however, be a private family interment.
