Dora was born in Lundar Manitoba on January 25, 1919. She was 91 years old. She was predeceased by her parents Ingimundur and Asta Sigurdson (nee Straumfjord), brother Johann, sister Bergthora (Loa) Swainson, twin brother Trausti, and husband Ernest Wonko. After growing up in Lundar, Dora moved to Winnipeg where she worked as a hairdresser for many years. She met her husband Ernie in Winnipeg. They were married on April 6, 1946 and they shared 49 happy years together. Always ready for a good time, Dora and Ernie socialized regularly with the many close friends from the Legion Bunch . The 40+ years with the cottage and the trailer in Gimli offered the opportunity to further bond with her Icelandic heritage and was known as the Gimli Bunch . In their later years, winters in south Texas added the Texas Bunch , the Golfing Bunch and the Dancehall Bunch to their ever growing circle of friends. After Ernie passed away in 1994, Dora moved back to West Winnipeg living at Betelstadur for 13 years. She continued to enjoy travelling and crafting with her friends and relatives well into her late 80s. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff and management at the Calvary Place Personal Care Home for the wonderful care they provided to Dora in this past year. We also feel a special thanks to all her relatives and friends, whose lives have touched Dora's life over these 91 years. It has been these relationships that have helped to make Dora the person she was. Dora was a kind, loving, giving, and caring person. Family always came first to her, with relatives and friends a very close second. She will be greatly missed. Goda Nött!!
