PETER SIRMAN Peter passed away peacefully on Friday, June 18, 2010, at the Riverview Health Centre. He was predeceased by his wife Helen; parents, Dmytro and Anna; sister Mary; and brothers, Alex, John, Steve and William. Peter enlisted in the army at the age of 19 and was a veteran of the Second World War. He sailed on the Empress of Scotland to Liverpool, England where he was stationed for one year. D Day was stormy and the landing was dangerous as the Canadian Scottish Regiment 7th Brigade landed on the Beaches of Normandy. His awards included Stars for Service in the defence of France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He had been a longtime member of the Canadian Legion Branch 30 on Selkirk Avenue. After his return home, his employers included Security Storage and Nelson River Construction. Peter was an avid and passionate fisherman, and he and his wife Helen, spent many enjoyable camping and fishing trips. He was Helen's attentive caregiver when her health declined. He is survived by his children, Dan, Wally, Pat, Harold and their families; sister-in-law Jean, nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him. Special thanks to the staff of Riverview Health Centre (3E) for their tender care during Peter's final days. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at 12:00 noon at Cropo Funeral Chapel 1442 Main St. Rev. Fr. I. Dziadyk officiating. Interment Glen Eden Cemetery.
