Date of Passing: Jun 19, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNIE HALWACHS On June 19, 2010, after a short illness, Annie passed away at age 90. Annie is survived by her children, William (Hannah), Alfred (Gloria), Josie (Sam), Robert (Pat), Craig (Martha), 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Ed and Matt Stamler and sister Theresa Olson. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph, her parents Frank and Theresa Stamler, brothers Frank and George, sister Mary and grandsons Greg and Todd. Annie was born in Pusztavam, Hungary on January 18, 1920 and came to Canada in 1927 . On October 23,1936 she married Joseph Halwachs and they began farming in Sprague, Manitoba while raising their five children. In the early years, Mom took care of the farm while Dad went off to work in the logging industry or work out of province. In 1976 they sold the farm and moved to Charleswood where she lived until her passing. Her vegetable and flower gardens were her passion along with her family and she always seemed to have planted enough vegetables for the whole family. Mom/Grandma's baking and cooking skills will be greatly missed as you rarely left her house without a meal of fried meat and potatoes or small goody bag of homemade cookies or donuts. She will be sadly missed by her family and relatives, her good friend Stella, John and Chris and her many friends on her street and in her bowling league. A special thanks to the Health Sciences Centre Emergency Trauma Team and the staff on the GB 3 and 7H for the kindness, care and comfort during Mom's stay at Health Sciences Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6. A private family gathering will be held. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
