It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Larry Monforton Sr. on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 73 years. Born in Windsor, ON on March 21, 1937. Larry joined the Army at a very young age. After retiring from the Military he worked at Stony Mountain Penitentiary. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Stonewall Legion and Legion Athletic Camp. He lived his life to the fullest. He loved jumping out of planes and was looking forward to one last jump. He would always tell it the way it was and looked out for the underdog. Left to mourn his passing his wife Joan, of 52 years, son Larry Jr. (Linda), Darlene (former son-in-law Brian), Parrish (Patricia); grandchildren Ryan (Ashley), Tegan, Breanne, Logan and Michaella; great-granddaughter Whitley; brother Gerald (Shirley) and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by his sisters Carole, Janice and Eva. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, June 23 at 7:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 24 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing one hour prior at Christ the King Church, Stonewall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the War Amps Society. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
