DONNA RAE AMES (nee REMILLARD) Peacefully, after a brave and lengthy battle with cancer, Donna Rae passed away on Monday, June 28, 2010 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 57 years. Left to cherish her memory are husband Neil, children Kevin (Terri-Ann), Lauren (Kyle Brownell), and Sandra, granddaughter Taylor Ames, mother Rachel Remillard, brother Dave, as well as many loving family members. Donna Rae was predeceased by her father Wilfrid and parents-in-law Carman and Josephine Ames. Donna Rae spent over 20 years being a foster parent of 31 children of whom she loved. She was deeply involved in support groups and Fetal Alcohol Family Association of Manitoba (FAFAM). Her interest was to educate the public regarding Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Her much loved hobby was to garden. She loved to relax by going to the trailer in Gimli. There will be a private family interment. A memorial reception will be at 1:30 p.m. on July 2, 2010 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint) In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donna Rae's memory to St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation.
