IRENE MARGARET KRUSE (nee WIEBE) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Irene. After a courageous battle with cancer, the angels called her on Monday, June 28, 2010. She had an amazing faith that carried her through this difficult time. Remaining to forever cherish Irene's memory are her beloved husband Van; seven children Garry (Sheryl), Wayne (Shirley), Ben (Jen), Dale (Kim), Debbie (Dennis Holowka), Kevin (Kim), Van (Davara); 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; sister Joan (Ed Pielech), and brother Bill (Pam). She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Emma; sister Delores, and grandson Brandon. Irene was born May 10, 1932 in Winnipeg. At the age of 18, she married her soul mate Van (they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in August). She was a long standing member of the H.M.C.S. Chippawa Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to raising her family, Irene kept busy as co-owner of Mar-Van Plumbing and Heating and was employed with Food Systems Management until her retirement. Throughout her life, Irene and Van enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and friends, and attending their grandchildren's functions. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Friday, July 2 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Ave., with Rev. Fr. Mark Tarrant presiding. Entombment will follow in the Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. Our family would like to thank the staff at Grace Hospital (3 South) for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations in Irene's memory may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, #304, 1 Wesley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4C6.
