He is survived by his children Nettie (Jacob) Sawatzky, Abe (Lena) Hiebert, Martin (Wilma) Hiebert, Gerhard (Martha) Hiebert, Tony (Shirley) Hiebert, Helga (Dwight) Hoeppner, Lori (Terry) Wiebe, Helen Hiebert, John Hiebert, Trudy Turner, Neil Hiebert and Jake Hiebert; 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Peter was born February 7, 1922 and passed away June 28, 2010 at Donwood Manor in Winnipeg. Peter was born in Osterwick (near Niverville) and then moved to Paraguay, South America as a child. Peter grew up and married Maria Dyck (who predeceased him in 2007) in 1944 and farmed in Paraguay until they moved to Canada in 1969 with 11 of their 12 children. He was employed by a few different companies over his lifetime, and retired from Willmar Windows after 12 years of service. He loved to write history for the Mennoniteshe Post . He also loved to spend his time researching family genealogy. He was baptized in 1944 on the confession of his faith by Pastor Martin C. Friesen. He lived his life by his faith in Christ. He will be dearly missed. Our heartfelt thanks to the Donwood staff for all the years of faithful service and care for Dad. The Funeral Service will be held at Springfield Heights Mennonite Church, 570 Sharron Bay, Winnipeg on Friday, July 2 at 10:30 a.m. with viewing prior to the service at 9:30 a.m. Interment at Mennonite Memorial Gardens.
