MICHAEL STEPHEN DINEEN After a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, we regret to announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend Michael Stephen Dineen on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the age of 58 years. Remaining to forever cherish Michael's memory are his wife Donna, of 37 years of marriage; daughters Ragan (Oliver), Lindsay (Arden); son Sean (Kara); granddaughter Hailey; brother David (Carol); sisters Susan and Colleen (Barry); brother-in-law Reginald (Charlene); sisters-in-law Judy, Wendy (Glenn) and Debra (Brian); best friends Ron and Lilliane; many nieces, nephews, friends and grand dogs. He was predeceased by his parents Sherman and Peggy Dineen; in-laws Robert and Gladys Cleveland; brothers-in-law Neil Horneman and Frank Chapiel. Michael was born on April 20, 1952 and lived all his life in Winnipeg. He met the love of his life in 1968, married in 1973 at tender ages of 18 and 21 and together they raised three children. Mike was a hard worker and committed 26 years to Westfair / Loblaws. He enjoyed life and spending quality time with family and friends. Some of his favourite pastimes were reading, playing cards, watching movies, working with computers, and most recently enjoying the outdoors while camping and golfing at St. Malo. Mike was a generous man and was always willing to lend a hand, whether it be to a friend or a stranger. He dutifully completed any task or project that his wife requested and always gave his time and knowledge to help his daughters with home improvements. This past March, Mike and Donna had the pleasure and opportunity to go on a Caribbean cruise with their lifelong friends, Ron and Lil. Unfortunately, Mike didn't have the chance to meet his second grandchild who is expected in August. His life will be cherished, never forgotten and always remembered by those who loved him or had the pleasure of knowing him. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Monday, July 5, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2400 Portage Avenue with Rev. Fr. Mark Tarrant, presiding. The family wishes to thank the nurses, doctors and staff at the Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care 3 East for their dedication, compassion, kindness and professionalism as well as a special thank you to Mike's co-workers for their extraordinary organization of the Bud and Spud fundraiser in his honour this past March. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Mike's memory be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or the Riverview Health Centre, One Morley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4. God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be, He closed His arms round you and whispered, Come to me. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away. Our hearts were almost broken, You fought so hard to stay. What you suffered, you told us few, You didn't deserve what you went through. Tired and weary, you made no fuss But tried so hard to stay with us. But when we saw you sleeping, So peaceful, free from pain, We could not wish you back To suffer all that again.
