MARIA (MARY) JERAJ
Date of Passing: Jun 28, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIA (MARY) JERAJ 1929 - 2010 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, auntie, and dear friend, Mary, on Monday, June 28, 2010. Mary passed away at her home at the age of 81 years. Mary leaves to mourn many people who loved her and will miss her, but no one will miss her more than her granddaughter, Tara (Trent) Didychuk and her great-granddaughter, Phoebe. Also left to mourn are her daughter, Maria (Alex) Komac, her grandsons, Andrew and Christopher Komac, her many relatives in Slovenia, and all of her friends here in Canada. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alois (Louie), of 57 years, in January of this year. It is our deepest wish that they find each other now and are happy together once more. Mary and Louie came to Canada in 1958 and lived in their dream home in St. Andrews since 1970. It was at this home that Mary could fulfill her love of gardening and any kind of work outside. She spent countless hours planting and watering her flowers and every year they bloomed tremendously from her special touch. Those who know Mary and her love of her yard could often see her stubbornly raking every last leaf in the fall so that her home looked perfect. Although there was much to be done around her house, Mary devoted herself to the work so that she could then enjoy the beauty that she saw all around her, at her own private park . Mary loved to read, cook and bake. Her goulash, potica, homemade perogies and stuffed peppers were better than anything a restaurant could offer. Mary was also an excellent seamstress, and she knit and crocheted many beautiful items over the years. She especially loved to sew her own clothes and make colourful afghans. Mary was a deeply spiritual person, who was very proud and fiercely independent until the very end. Even when she found herself alone over these last few months, she insisted on doing as much for herself as she could and she did a great job. Mary was very fond of Phoebe and enjoyed spending her Sundays talking to and playing with her. Phoebe will miss her Mimi , who doted on her. Tara thought of Mary as her mother, and will miss being able to go to her for advice, recipes and a good story. As per Mary's wishes, there is to be no service. A private interment will be held to honour her memory in the fall. The kiss of the sun for pardon, The song of the birds for mirth, One is nearer God's heart in a garden, Than anywhere else on earth. -Dorothy Gurney Grandma, we hope that you are at peace now, enjoying the next life with Popchi. We love you and will always remember you and all that you have done for us. You are irreplaceable.
