RAYMOND (WIMPY) PETIT Peacefully, surrounded by family at the age of 73, our father, pépère and brother left to make his final journey. Left to cherish his memory are his four children, Sylvia Backman (Darryl), Emile Petit (Diane), Colette and Céline; two grandchildren Tyler Schurko and Lianne; his sister Lilliane Manaigre (Edward) and brother Gilbert Petit (Noëlla), many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Rose Marie in 2003; his parents, Emile and Bertha and two brothers, Roger and Lucien. Ray was born in Ile-des- Chênes. He married Rose Marie Brais on October 20, 1962. Ile-des-Chênes was where they raised their children. Ray had a trucking business Petit Transfer until a stroke at the age of 36 changed the direction of our lives. But Dad with his strong will and determination made a good life for us. They built a beautiful house which Dad was so proud of. For the last 14 years, Taché Nursing Centre was his home. To the staff on 2 ABC, we will be forever grateful for the love, devotion and caring you gave our Papa. No amount of words can express our gratitude for being home for our father when we could not be there. Dad always had a special place in his heart for his only sister Lilliane. If a man is measured by his strength, determination and love, then our Dad was a giant. A private service will be held at a later date with interment in the Ile-des Chênes Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Ray's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements 775-2220.
