He was predeceased by his parents John and Josephine Kapty and his in-laws Joseph Stebnicki and Olga Hlynsky. After the loss of his Lesia in 2005, his life was never the same. Vlad will be sadly missed by his only daughter Darusia and her husband John Kozelko and his loving grandchildren, Alexandra ( Poolie ), Nicolas ( Kola ) and Timon. He also leaves to mourn his passing his brother Russell (Judy), his sister-in-law Luba Ewashko (John), brother-in-law Bohdan Stebnicky (Marlene), Baba Hania and her family, nieces and nephews Teddy, Michael, Uliana, Patricia, Laurence, Larissa and their families, his Kum Boxy Klymkiw (Josie) and family ,his Svaty Sam and Mary Kozelko, his O. Koshetz Choir family, his family in Ukraine and many other friends. Dad gave his time and energy to many community causes. He was a member of the O. Koshetz Choir for over 50 years. Lesia and Vlad supported and hosted many artists from Ukraine, many of whom became their close friends. As a young man, Vlad was a member of the Ukrainian National Youth Federation (MUNO). He then joined the Ukrainian National Federation (St. Boniface Branch) where he remained active until his passing. He was the President of the U.N.F. St. Boniface, the St. Boniface Ukrainian Foundation, the Oseredok Foundation and served on the boards of the Orlan Ukrainian Folk Ensemble, Carpathia Credit Union and Oseredok. Mom and Dad were generous supporters of many cultural and community organizations. Mom and Dad loved to travel and began their many trips to Ukraine in 1965. They enjoyed their travel adventures with the choir and often reminisced about them. They also loved to entertain and there were many memorable gatherings with family and friends at their home. Dad's health gradually deteriorated after Mom's passing and dialysis became a way of life. In spite of his gruff exterior, he was a softy inside especially when moved by music, traditions, family and friends. The family would like to express thanks to Dr. Taras Babick for his care over the years and to Dr. K. Bernstein and the Nephrology Team at H.S.C. We greatly appreciate the excellent care and kindness shown to him by the 6th floor Dialysis Unit at H.S.C.
