EDMUND HOOPER It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Ted (Edmund) Richard Hooper on June 21, 2010 while vacationing in Europe at the age of 77. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving partner Rose Flaig; children Stephen (Nancy), Jackie (Benny), Kim and Milli; grandchildren Ashleigh (Michael), Derek, Nicki and Kenny; great-granddaughter Siena; stepson Roland (Tracy) and his children Riley, Jessica and Sheridan, his brother Chris (Terri) as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Alma, parents Richard and Kathleen and his brother Ken. Ted was born on July 30, 1932 and grew up in wartime England (Bristol). He began work at age 14 for British Railways. At 18, he was called to National Service and served in the Gloucestershire unit in Tripoli and North Africa. After the army he worked at several jobs in welding. Ted married Alma in 1953 and moved to Canada in 1972. It was in Canada that Ted's employment transitioned to the automotive industry. After Alma's passing, Ted met his partner Rose, and added to our family. Ted, Rose and Milli moved to Matlock, MB in 1992. Although he continued to work in the automotive industry he also became a part time bylaws officer, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. Ted touched many lives with his endeavors in work and community. We will never forget his love of life as well as his kind and giving spirit. The many happy memories will keep him alive in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Manitoba Marathon, 4 - 1080 Waverley St., Winnipeg, MB R3T 5S4. Memorial service will be held on Monday, July 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. We will love you and remember you always. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
