JOEL DOUGLAS WEEDON August 6, 1963 - July 3, 2010 With great sadness, we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved husband, brother, uncle and friend on July 3, 2010. He will be forever missed and mourned by his wife, best friend and life partner Shelagh. Joel's loss will also be felt by sister Patty (Ken), brothers Mike (Jan) and Ed (Cecile), sister Peggy and a number of nephews and nieces as well as his many, many friends. Joel was predeceased by his mother Betty, father Harold, brother Danny and infant sister Joanne. Joel was born and raised in the Wolseley area and spent most of his life there, developing many lifelong friends in the neighbourhood. He was a familiar and welcome sight as he expertly attended to his garden, always happy to stop and chat with neighbours. Joel (Joey to many) touched so many lives and all who knew him loved and valued him for his sense of humour, camaraderie and playful nature. Joel was a man who loved and was loved deeply. He had a deep and abiding love of nature and the environment, was an avid cyclist and an accomplished musician as well as a self-taught craftsman. Joel spent his last couple of years working tirelessly on renovating his childhood home to create a new beginning and future to share with Shelagh and their family of pets. His keen intelligence, insights and ability to think around corners will be sorely missed. A celebration of Joel's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg, 603 Wellington Crescent, Winnipeg. We invite all those who have been touched by Joel to come to honour and share his spirit with us. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to D'Arcy's ARC Animal Rescue Centre. I love you forever baby.
