VIOLA (VI) KNIGHT (nee YOUNG) It is with great sadness, and heavy hearts, that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved, Mother, on Tuesday, July 6, 2010. Remaining to forever cherish Vi's memory are her son Stewart, and his wife Carla, her sister, Peg Dixon, and many nieces and nephews. Vi was predeceased by her husband, Doug, on July 30, 2000, her parents, and her brothers, Harold and Lawrence Young. Vi was born on April 6, 1927, in Lenore, Manitoba, to Hazel and Robert Young, and married her dear husband Doug, on July 28, 1951, in Winnipeg, where they resided, while also maintaining a little hobby farm in Libau for many years. Vi was also a dedicated and long time employee of Great West Heating, where she worked as the office manager until her retirement in 1992. She remained active in her retirement years, enjoying knitting and crocheting, and she was always up for a game of cards or bingo. Some of her happiest times were spent around her kitchen table enjoying the company of family and friends. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Grace Hospital, and a Very Special Thank You is extended to Vi's nephew, Herb Hinton, and dear friend's Theresa and John Triggs, for their caring and kindness, and for always being there for Vi to lend a helping hand. Funeral Service to be held on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, with interment and reception to follow. Flowers are gratefully declined. Should friend's so desire, donations in Vi's memory can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Cherished memories will become treasured keepsakes that will live in our hearts forever.
