MARIA (MARY) FEHR (nee ESAU) 1921 - 2010 On Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Carman Memorial Hospital, Mary Fehr, born Maria Esau aged 89 years of Brunkild, MB went to be with the Lord. Mary was born April 3, 1921 in Friedensfeld #3. She immigrated to Canada with her family in September of 1926. Most of her childhood memories came from living on farms in the Brandon area. She had to move to Winnipeg at the age of 13 to start work at various jobs; with fond memories of her work as a pastry chef at St. Charles Country Club at the young age of 19. Premier Bracken loved her tasty scones. Mary was introduced to her husband, Jake Fehr through her sister, Katherine. They met at a roller rink where, Mary was an avid skater and Jake was hanging onto the sides. They were married in Winkler on July 30, 1944 (before harvest time). They homesteaded a farm close to Haskett but decided to move to the Brunkild area in 1950 because Jake wanted larger fields instead of multiple smaller parcels. Mom loved and lived the rural Christian life. She was baptized in 1945 in Winkler. The love of her family came first. There are many fond memories of her home cooked meals both at home and on the fields. She made many sacrifices for her family and supported their endeavours. Besides the love of farming, she also enjoyed music and sports. In her later years, she loved to travel and the highlight of her life was the journey to the Holy Land with her husband, Jacob. Many trips to Germany and visits to relatives were special to her. She leaves to mourn her passing her children, William Bill (Marge), David (Virginia), Peter, Elsie Fehr, Esther (Merv), Margaret and her daughter-in-law, Andrea as well as her grandchildren, Douglas, Bronwynn, Britany, Angela, Kyle, Sara Lea, Adam, Andrew and Heidi; great- grandchildren, Dilon, Lacy, Ethan, Charlie and Nicolas. She is survived by her sister, Nettie, her brother, Jake and many nieces and nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Jacob A. Fehr, her son, John Fehr as well as her parents, William and Aganeta Esau and siblings, John, William and Katherine. Viewing will be on Sunday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. and Monday 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Wiebe Funeral Home, 121 8th St. in Winkler. Graveside service and interment will be held on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Haskett Cemetery in Haskett, MB (11 miles south of Winkler and 1 mile west). A lunch will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Brunkild at 1:30 p.m. Special thanks to Mom's care givers, Anna and Marian as well as Dr. Ebbeling-Treon and the staff at Carman Memorial Hospital.
