Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANTHONY (TONY) MILLER 1939 - 2010 After an extremely hard fought battle we announce with heavy hearts the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother on July 8, 2010 at the age of 70. Tony was predeceased by his mother Nellie, father John, Sister Yvonne, father in-law Cyril and brother in-law Bruce. Left to forever cherish Tony's memory are his loving wife Shirley, children: Brett (Shelly), Shelley (Nick) and Jeff (Tara), as well as his grandchildren Kennedy and Curtis whom he so loved and adored. Also Tony will be missed by his brothers Karol and Lenny, sisters Ruth and Gloria, brother in-law Jack (Marlene) and mother-in-law Jean Wenham. Tony was born and raised in St.Clements, MB where he was affectionately known as Butch . In 1962, Tony married the love of his life, Shirley. They moved to Calgary, where Brett was born and shortly after they moved back to Winnipeg, where Shelley and Jeff were born and their close-knit family was raised. Tony's family was always number one to him. Tony was one of the first in Manitoba to achieve his level five coaching certification and he thus proceeded to pass his knowledge onto many up and coming coaches. Tony and Shirley were also proud owners of the second mobile Chip Truck in Winnipeg The Chip Gypsy . Where they successfully ran the family business for over 23 years. Tony worked in the optical industry for over 20 years, many as the number one sales rep in North America. His customers always looked forward to his generous visits that included gifts of chocolates and flowers. His honesty, values, generosity, tremendous love for his family and his zest for life shone through like no other. Our Pops battled diabetes like no other, he made many trips to the hospital but he always came out on top. The family would especially like to express their gratefulness for the amazing love and care offered by Justin and Sheldon, Tony's homecare workers. All the homecare nurses, specifically Tracy and Denise. The extra special care by Dr. Balko and the kind care of all the emergency staff at St. Boniface Hospital. Pops , we are all so proud to say you are our dad, husband, and grandfather. We love you and we will see you later. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 12, 2010 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). Interment will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Canadian Diabetes Foundation in Tony's Memory.
