THELMA JOHNSON Thelma Johnson died peacefully at age 86 after a long battle with kidney disease in St. Boniface Hospital on July 10, 2010. Thelma was predeceased by her mother and father, Anna and Karl, and her sister, Evelyn, Evelyn's husband Alex, and her brothers Herb and Walter. She will be missed by her niece and nephew Allison Bridge of Winnipeg and Dane Bridge and wife Leonora of Calgary, her grand-nephew Jay and wife Sandy Bridge and children Aiden, Dylan and Camyrn, grand-nephew Robin Bridge and wife Soy and child Cordilea of Ottawa, grand-nieces Andrea and Alexia Bridge and Alexia's child Logan of Calgary. During her last few weeks she had the opportunity again to be visited by her cherished childhood friends Betty and Irene and travelling companions Rose and Gisele. Thelma Johnson lived for most of her life at 64 Egerton Road in St. Vital in the home that her father built. She resided there until her illness force her to move to an apartment and then to the Waverly Retirement Home. She worked for the family court for some 30 years and was a member of Beautiful Saviour Lutheran Church. Although Thelma was born in St. Vital she maintained the family connections to their Swedish homeland. Thelma always put others before her and provided much care for her parents and siblings. She had a life well lived and accepted the end of her life with her strong faith in God's love. We thank the staff at the St. Boniface Dialysis Unit for the years of care that they provided for Thelma. A remembrance ceremony will be held Wednesday, July 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park , 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Donations may be made to Beautiful Saviour Lutheran Church, 1541 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg, MB R2M 3V8.
