Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIRGINIA ELOISE STIKEMAN (nee GUY) Peacefully, at Royal Victoria Hospital, Montréal on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at age 93. Born in Winnipeg, she was the cherished daughter of the late Robert Dunbar Guy and the late Anna Corinne Guy (DuVal); dear sister of the late Justice Robert Dunbar Guy Jr. (Doc); the late Constance Guy (Tonsy) Hunter, and William (Bill) Guy and sister-in-law Patricia Guy. Dear mother of Ginny Stikeman, Robert Stikeman (Dea), Ann Garland (Bruce) and Elizabeth Merry (Martin). Dear Grandmother of Eloise and Corinne Stikeman; Alexandra, Samantha, Damien (Chihiro) and Adriane Garland; Graham (Sarah) and Alex (Adria) Rose; great-grandmother of Peyton and Alastair Rose; Zoe and Duncan Rose. Loved by many nephews, nieces and godchildren. Virginia was a graduate of Tolmers School in England and the University of Manitoba. She moved to Montréal with her husband (Harry Heward) and centered her life around her family and volunteer work. Throughout her life in Montréal, she devoted her volunteer time to supporting the Montréal Association for the Blind, the Montréal Junior League, St. Matthias Church and the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal where she managed the Cléf du Sol. Virginia will be remembered for her love of Shakespeare, her love of golf and her gentle compassion. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Geriatric Unit of the Royal Victoria Hospital who provided care and support to her in her final days. A memorial service and subsequent reception will be at Mount Royal Funeral Complex in the Mount Royal Cemetery, Outremont on Friday, July 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Montréal with interment at the family site. Friends and family are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
