IRENE BOYLE (nee TASCONA) December 11, 1918 - July 10, 2010 Peacefully on July 10, with family by her side, Irene passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Irene was predeceased by her husband Charles, her grandson Michael and 12 brothers and sisters, all who remained close throughout their lifetime. Irene will be greatly missed by her children Pat, Ross and her daughter and best friend Diane, her daughters-in-law Dianne and Carolyn, her sister-in-law Grace, her grand-children Sean, Shannon B. and Shannon M., her many great-grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews and friends. It is a great loss to her remaining sibling, brother Pepin Tascona, of Barrie, Ontario. Mom loved to travel. When Dad was alive, they would take winter holidays in Hawaii. She travelled for a number of years with Diane to Europe and had the opportunity to visit where her parents were born in Sicily, Italy. With friends from the church she took cruises to the Caribbean and Mexico. She travelled throughout Canada and the U.S. with Diane on many shopping sprees, which she loved. When the children were growing up, Diane's friends in the neighbourhood would raid Irene's closet for the colourful clothes and classy shoes when playing dress up time. She was kind and generous and cherished the family gatherings with all her brothers and sisters. Her annual Boxing Day open house was very popular with friends and family. Everyone she came in contact with would have a loving story to tell about her. The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff at the Grace Hospital Emergency Room, the nurses in the Orthopaedic Unit, Dr. J. Reynolds and Dr. P. Harris and the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit and Dr. C. Lariviere who took loving care of mother in her final days and Drs. Johnston and Wiseman of CancerCare. A special thanks to her family/friends, care givers Carole, Joyce, Debbie and Cathy. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 16, 2010 at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue, everyone to meet at Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed John XXIII Parish, 3390 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace Hospital Foundation, the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit, or CancerCare Manitoba. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
