As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Ann was predeceased by Nick (her husband of 57 years) in 2006, her father John in 1986; mother Mary in 2001 and sister Bernice in 1999. Ann is lovingly remembered by her son Leonard (Louise) and grandchildren, Jason and Shanon of San Angelo, Texas; daughter Sandra (Les Hadden) and grandchildren, Bradley and Pamela of Spruce Grove, Alberta; and son Lawrence (Holly) and grandchildren, Amber and Adam of Dryden, Ontario; sister Jean of Pilot Mound, Manitoba and many relatives and friends. Ann was born and raised in Selkirk, Manitoba. In 1949 she married Nick. They owned and operated a small corner grocery store in Winnipeg for four years. When they returned to Selkirk, Ann enjoyed being a homemaker, wife and mother. She gratified her creativity by teaching guitar lessons, playing guitar and singing in various nursing homes, gardening and raising budgie birds. As a member of the Holy Eucharist Church, Ann sang with her husband in the choir for 53 years. She was also a longstanding church volunteer and member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Ann and Nick enjoyed their retirement, primarily travelling in their motorhome, along with occasional bus tours and fly away vacations. After Nick passed away, Ann moved in with Sandra and Les in Spruce Grove where she savoured spending time at the lake and allowed herself to acquire a taste for reading novels. In the summer of 2008, Ann enjoyed an Alaskan cruise with Sandra. Ann cherished her two winters in the warmth of San Angelo and looked forward to exercising regularly at the health club with Leonard and Louise. She enjoyed suntanning, walking along the beaches of South Padre Island and exploring other areas of Texas. Ann's children and grandchildren were very special to her. She was loving, self-sacrificing, supportive and proud of them and their accomplishments. She always proclaimed that her happiest times were when the whole family was together. A memorial Mass will be held on Monday, July 19 at 10:30 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk with Father Peter Chorney officiating.
