VIONNA LYNN SCHADE HLADKY In the early morning hours of July 12, 2010, Vionna Hladky went home to be with her Heavenly Father, after battling cancer at Winnipeg's Health Sciences Centre. Her 58 years on this earth served to bring much glory to God and joy to those who knew her. Her family, especially, grieves her passing. There will be no substitute for her steadfast love and devotion. Vionna is survived by her husband, Michael Hladky, her two children, Joel and Anja, parents, Henry and Tillie Schade, siblings Darlene Schade, Garnet Schade and wife Brenda, Brian Schade and wife Debbie, Glenda Berg and husband Mark and her nephews, nieces and great-nephew. She is dearly loved and missed by her husband's family. Vionna was born in 1952 in Beausejour, Manitoba. Her early years were spent enjoying farm life in Greenwald, Manitoba, where she learned the values of patience, perseverance, and plain hard work. It was here where she began to understand the importance of taking care of things living. Seeds of hope and trust in God, even in the midst of disappointment, were planted in these years. Their fruit enabled Vionna to finish life on earth with great dignity and extravagant faith. After her family moved to Winnipeg, her school years were highlighted by a strong intellect and desire for excellence. She eventually pursued and attained a University Degree in Occupational Therapy. Her chosen profession was a platform to care for people in Christ's name. In Vionna, lay a special heart that was touched by God. It was important for her to use the many gifts and talents she was given to bring glory to her Heavenly Father. She desired always to serve God and others. The church ministries she was involved in strengthened the faith and hands of many. Her family can testify to the richness of life she nurtured among them. In faithfulness, she humbly laid foundations of love and made quiet sacrifices regularly so that others could flourish. Vionna and her family very much appreciated the work of her doctors and the compassionate staff of the Health Sciences Centre Urology Unit. We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming love and care of Riverwood Church Community, her church family. We also wish to thank the many friends and family who came by to bring meals, visit, pray and encourage. Family and friends are invited to join us for a viewing to take place Sunday, July 18, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street, and/or the Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 19 at North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Road, reception and interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful if donations would be made to The Crisis Pregnancy Centre of Winnipeg or Compassion Canada. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111

  • Vionna was a dear childhood/teen friend and I have fond memories of youth get-togethers at Schades. The welcome and caring meant so much. Vionna's lovely smile, her music, her gentle nature and commitment to serving the Lord will be remembered. Her early passing is a reminder that this world is not our home but our hope is for a wonderful reunion. May God comfort each one of you with His amazing peace. Sincerely, Helga Fech (Pagels) Also, sincere sympathy from Erna Redling - Posted by: Helga Fech (Friend) on: Jul 19, 2010
