Date of Passing: Jul 13, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUSSELL EDWARD JAMES MAY It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of our dearly loved father and grandfather at the age of 80 years on Tuesday, July 13, 2010. It was an honour and a privilege to know Dad and his passing has left a void in our hearts. Dad was one of nine children born to James and Gertrude May. He is survived by four sisters Francis, Amy, Alice and Charlotte. Also left to cherish his memory are three daughters: Janet (Rick), Linda (Tim), Joanne and one son: Jim and their children: Jenny, Matthew, Laura, Steven, Kelly, Michael and one great-grandson, Cole. Dad was a gifted athlete from a very early age and he was a star at any sport he attempted winning dozens of trophies in hockey, golfing and bowling. He continued to golf his whole life and was most proud of shooting his age several times. He loved nature and was one of the first cottage builders at Rush Bay in Lake of the Woods. Many wonderful times were had through the years with family and friends. Dad retired as a Yardmaster at C.N.R. after 37 years even though he used to state he was a printer by trade . He also served in the Navy from 1947 to 1949 with his main tour of duty protecting the Panama Canal. This began his life long love of the seas and he travelled to many far away places. Dad will be deeply missed by all his family and many friends. A stor nAthair Go mbeith siochán. His family expresses their sincere appreciation for the compassionate care provided by the staff of Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach and the Ste. Anne's Hospital.
