ONA DEMERECKAS (nee PETRAITYTE) March 19, 1923 - July 16, 2010 Peacefully on July 16, 2010 at Kildonan Personal Care Centre, Ona passed away at 87 years of age. Born in Lithuania, Ona immigrated to Canada first residing in Bisset, MB and later moving to Winnipeg. After working in the garment industry, she operated the family business, A A Grocery until her retirement. Ona was a member of St. Casimir's Lithuanian Catholic Church until its closing. The doors of her home were always open and many enjoyed the love of her cooking. She never missed an opportunity to spend time in her yard tending to her flowers and vegetables. Ona will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Danute Skolny; granddaughter, Carrie (Mike) Mainella; great-grandchildren Gabrielle and Domenic; as well as extended family in Chicago and Lithuania. She will be reunited with her husband, Juozas and her daughters, Veronika and Laimute. To all the staff at Kildonan Personal Care Centre, thank you for your support and passionate care of Baba and family during her stay and final days of life. Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass celebrating Ona's life will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 21 at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Parish, 264 Donwood Dr. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
