DULCIE VIOLET ATKINSON (NADIN) It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Mom, Dulcie Violet Atkinson (Nadin) on Saturday, July 17, 2010 with her family by her side. Preceded by her husband of 63 years, Orvil, baby John and her siblings Mae Flack, Mildred Beech, Margaret MacAulay. She will be missed by her daughters, Dianna (Charles), Beverley (Charles), four grandchildren, Trina (Iain) Hunt, Brad (Jennifer) Ibbott, Cory (Sandra) Taylor, Scott (Linnea) Taylor, great-grandchildren Alyssa and Taylor Ibbott and baby Eric Taylor, cousins, nieces and nephews from British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba, along with many family and friends. Mom was born in Windygates, Manitoba on May 11, 1922 to parents Richard and Gertrude Nadin, moved to the Wood Bay district where she attended the Wood Bay School. Mom married the love of her life John Orvil in 1944 and moved from Pilot Mound area to Selkirk where they resided and raised two daughters, Dianna and Beverley. Mom enjoyed family get-togethers, gardening, baking and travelling from the East Coast to West Coast, Pilot Mound, and including the family Alaskan cruise in celebration of their 60th wedding anniversary. Mom had many accomplishments during her life starting at Brown's Bread decorating cakes, completion of her hair dressing program, graduating from the Health Care Aid program at Tudor House and custodian at Daerwood School until her retirement. One of Mom's greatest passions was her love of animals from her farm days to her special pets, Taymar and Tiny, Muffy and Kiki and granddogs, Barclay, Jasmine, Holi and Minnie. Mom was a gracious lady, highly respected and loved by those who knew her. There will be a void in our lives without her and a comfort in our heart for knowing this amazing lady! A memorial service will be held at the Selkirk United Church with Deborah Vitt officiating on Friday, July 23 at 2:00 p.m. In honour of Dulcie's memory, donations may be made to the Selkirk Palliative Care, Winnipeg Humane Society or any Animal Rescue Centres. We wish to thank the Staff at Selkirk District and General Hospital, Woodlands Assistant Living, Arborg Personal Care Home and Tudor House for the kindness and loving support, especially her guardian angel. A special thank you to Deborah Vitt, who gave us courage and strength to help Mom on her journey. My mind is open, wherever I am, I am simply beginning Gilbert Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
