Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMONICA DANGERFIELD (nee MACKENZIE) Peacefully on July 19, 2010 at Tache Centre, Monica, beloved wife of James, passed away with her family and friends by her side. Remaining to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 64 years, James; her children: son-in-law Brian Muirhead of Mississauga, James (Debbie), Paula Finkelstein (Bert) of St. Paul, Minnesota, Mark (Helena) and Lisa Brunette (Tony). Also her many grandchildren: Megan (Chris), Jamie (Elizabeth), Raquel (Russ), Jackie (Pete), Katie, Stacey (Greg), Colin, Ermiyas, Tazebew, Sampson, Jonah, Cody, Sean, Dana, Jessica, Logan (Dan) and Mike; her great-grandchildren Devon, Damon and Finley. She also leaves to mourn her sister, Rita Markey of Ottawa and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Nan Mackenzie, parents-in-law James and Dorothy Dangerfield, daughter Dorothy Muirhead, twin brothers, Gordon and Alistair Mackenzie, sister-in-law Connie Mackenzie and brother-in-law Ed Markey. Monica was born on September 16, 1924 in Winnipeg and on June 29, 1946 married her dear husband James. They lived all of their married life together in Norwood with their family. Together they enjoyed their family, friends, neighbours and especially their travels to many parts of the world - Spain, Italy, The Holy Land, Yugoslavia, New Mexico, winters in Florida and summers at Victoria Beach. Monica was blessed with many friends including her prayer group and adoration ladies. She was an active member of the C.W.L., St. Thomas More Chapel, Winnipeg Winter Club, Cardinal Swim Club and a St. Mary's Academy Alumni. Monica was an amazing baker and was well known for her butter tarts and pies that graced many a table. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, July 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 252 Dubuc Street with Fr. Martin Bradbury officiating. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Coates and the staffs at Charleswood and Tache Care Centres. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Society of Manitoba.
