Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANK RITCHIE Suddenly, on July 19, 2010, at his residence, Frank Ritchie, beloved husband of Heather. His father Frank G., mother Josephine and sister Jo-Lou predeceased Frank. Leaving to cherish his memory, sons, Del (Tammy), Joey (Syl), daughter, Shauna (Richard) and grandchildren, Erica, Hailey, Cassie, Zachary and Chelsea, along with close extended family. Frank was born in Fort Frances, ON, June 22, 1931, grew up in River Heights, graduated from St. Paul's College, and attended University of Manitoba. Sports played an important part in his life from early childhood well into his later years as a player and a coach. He played baseball, lacrosse, and his first love hockey. At the age of 16, the Detroit Red Wings farm team approached him however, encouraged by his father he chose to continue his education. After a short career on the Winnipeg Police Force, Frank began his lifetime career in industrial sales, during which he was instrumental in establishing Wyant Co. in the Prairie Provinces, retiring in 1994. Frank enjoyed his retirement years living at Winnipeg Beach, which he considered his true childhood home. His passion during these years was to ensure that every creature, feathered or furred was fed and protected. At his request, there will be no formal service. Cremation has taken place, and friends are invited to join family in a celebration of his life at 158 Prospect St., Winnipeg Beach, Saturday, July 31, 2010, beginning at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to D'Arcy's A.R.C. (Animal Rescue Centre), 7308 Century St., Winnipeg, MB. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
