Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Bill was a very significant contributor to the foundation of the Erin Mills congregation in 1979. He was our first Sergeant Major (Senior lay leader) and an enthusiastic and energetic supporter of the establishment of the new congregation. Bill met the Salvation Army in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He characterized himself as a drunken cop at that time in his life. His life was turned around when he found a relationship with God as a result of seeing the Salvation Army folks out on an open air meeting on the street corner. Dawn Samuels was also part of Erin Mills beginnings and wrote a musicale about Bill's life which she also produced and directed, involving several members of the new congregation. It was called, "Things are Different Now." Working on this as a congregation and presenting it to a large crowd, helped the developing congregation to come together and to celebrate Bill, and give hope to others for the same kind of transformative experience which Bill Coutts had lived and to which he gave testimony in so many ways. - Posted by: Jim and Sheila Ellis (former pastors/corps officers where Bill and Mary were members (soldiers) of the Salvation Army in E) on: Nov 28, 2015

  • I am a great, great, great grandaughter of Williams grandpa's (William) brother (Alexander Coutts) and would love to connect with some relatives in this family. If there is any way to reach his survivors please pass on my info to them or email me their addresses. Thanks, Tasha Shorts - Posted by: Tasha Shorts (distant relative) on: Jul 13, 2012
