Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLARA MARY BLACK (nee GREENING) On July 12, 2010 Clara probably sang The Old Grey Mare one last time; certainly she was content and in good humour only minutes before she passed away at the age of 94 in the Rosewood Lodge Nursing Home in Stonewall, Manitoba. Clara was born in London, England on August 1, 1915. She was the ninth of 12 children born to William and Emma Greening. In 1925 the family immigrated to Manitoba, which remained home to Clara for the rest of her life. During the Second World War, Clara served with the RCAF Women's Division. Following the war she worked for The Timothy Eaton Company for many years. In 1975 Clara married Harkness (Harry) Black, who remained the light of her life and whom she deeply missed after he passed away in 2005. Clara is predeceased by her brothers and sisters Alfred, Fred, Betty, May, Hetty, Helen, Ronald, Bill, John, George and Marion. She is survived and dearly missed by her grand-children Heather Smrekar, Patrick McArthur, Russell McArthur, Jason McFee, and their spouses and great-grandchildren, as well as by her many nephews and nieces, great nephews and great nieces and friends around the world. The family gratefully acknowledges the wonderful care Clara received from the staff and volunteers at Rosewood Lodge. Though she always felt too young to be in a nursing home, she allowed that the food was good and the nurses were lovely to her. Clara's ashes will be interred in the Stony Mountain Christ Church Churchyard on August 5, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. All who knew Clara are welcome to join the family at the graveside to say goodbye.
