Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIE CYMBALIST (DOBCHUK) November 4, 1923 - July 24, 2010 Peacefully surrounded by family, our very special Mom and Wife passed away July 24, 2010 at Third Crossing Manor in Gladstone at the age of 86 years. Marie is survived by her loving husband Roman of 68 years; her three daughters Judi Rempel (Abe), Donna Cymbalist and Kathy Honcharik (Sam). She was the proud and devoted grandma to Gerri, Andrea, Hailley and Todd and great-grandmother to Talus and Brooklyn. Marie will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her parents Anne and John Dobchuk and three siblings Peter, Molly and Stephen. Marie was born in Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1930, attending schools in Grass River, Maitland and Plumas. On November 15, 1941, Marie married Roman Cymbalist. They took up residence and farmed the B R Ranch, north of Plumas. In November 1947, fire destroyed the home and the following year Roman and Marie purchased a farm west of Plumas and raised their three daughters. They left the farm in Plumas and moved to the Legion Apartments in Gladstone in 2000. In earlier years, when farming became easier, Marie and Roman did a lot of travelling to England, Russia, Florida, Broughton Island, NWT, Maritimes and various US bus tours. Mom was an avid softball player, curler, golfer and bowler. She was a fantastic cook, gardener, sewer, enjoyed her flowers and took great pride in helping others, whether it be baking, visiting or entertaining - no job was too big for Mom. And she always did it well. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and would do anything to please them - they will miss her immensely. For years, Marie was a member of the Plumas and Gladstone United Church, UCW, Rebekah Lodge and Honourary Member of the Plumas Ladies Curling Club. The family would like to thank the staff of Seven Regions Hospital and Third Crossing Manor for their comfort to Mom these last few weeks. Special thanks to Dr. Eva Berman-Wong for her compassionate, above-and-beyond care for Mom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gladstone Seniors Drop-In Centre, Box 642, Gladstone, Manitoba, R0J 0T0 or to Third Crossing Manor (Country Courtyard), Box 1000, Gladstone, Manitoba, R0J 0T0. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place August 4, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gladstone United Church. Clarke's Funeral Home, Gladstone in care of arrangements. www.clarkesfuneralhome.com
