PETER KROEGER Peter Kroeger, beloved husband of Helen, his wife of 53 years, passed away on July 27, 2010 at his residence. Peter was born on September 12, 1924, the day of his father's 22nd birthday in the village of Olgafeld, in the Fuerstenland Colony in Southern Russia (now Ukraine). He came to Canada at the age of four years, the oldest of 11 siblings born to Gerhard and Tina Kroeger (nee Unger). Dad's career was spent in the building and window industry in Manitoba. He was a loving husband and father who had many interests in his life which were always enthusiastically shared with the family. From camping, to boating to gardening to golfing when Dad got into it - he went deep. Dad was also a skilled craftsman, an inventor who was forever designing things and a great musician. Music was always a central theme in his life and our home was always filled with it. Dad loved his bass guitar and playing with family and friends was always a priority for him. He provided us gifts and opportunities that we will forever be grateful for. He is survived by his wife Helen (nee Penner) and his children Brenda Reimer (Dennis), Howard (Jane Wieler), and Conni (Alec Prystako), grandchildren Andrea Reimer (Dennis Nowasad), Craig Reimer, Alexandra, Travis and Lucas Kroeger, Jessi Kroeger and Michael Prystako. Sisters Helen Krahn, Katie (Bill) Enns, Margaret Kroeger, Hertha (Eric) Martens, Marion Johnson, brothers George (Katie) Kroeger, Ed Kroeger, Henry (Selma) Kroeger, John (Mavis) Kroeger and Jake (Lynn) Kroeger. Sisters-in-law Margaret Penner and Sally Irwin, brother-in-law Alvin (Shirley) Penner and sister-in-law Eileen Penner. Peter was predeceased by his parents Gerhard and Tina Kroeger, and three brothers-in-law Tom Johnson, John Krahn, and Nick Penner Special thanks to the wonderful people at Palliative Care Manitoba - nurses, Louise, Trish and Rachel, and Home Care staff - Genet, Marlene, Marnie, Kathy, Manuel, Lawrenda, Lawrence and Olga. A special loving thanks to Sally Irwin who provided Dad with such warm care and compassion during the last few weeks of his journey home. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Sorry to hear of Peters passing. We will really miss the August visits to Saskatchewan. It was always very interesting to see the new gadgets he had found and to hear the stories that went with them. We are thinking of you and know that you have many wonderful memories that will help as the days go on. Greg & Carol Kruger Family - Posted by: Greg Kruger (Family) on: Jul 30, 2010
