DR. EUGENE ANTHONY KAPROWY After a brave fight, Gene Kaprowy, 63, of Springfield, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at St. Boniface Hospital. Born October 27, 1946, he was the son of the late Tony Kaprowy and Anne (née Shewchuk) Kaprowy. He was a psychologist by profession and, over the span of his career, worked for the Government of Manitoba in Health and Family Services, taught behaviour modification at the University of Winnipeg, and, for the past 18 years, ran his own practice. While he took enormous pride in his work, he also loved puttering in the yard with his dog Pepper, listening to jazz, country and classical music, making pizza and waffles, and going to the symphony and theatre. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother; his wife Gaye Lea Kropf, of Springfield; his son Matthew Kaprowy and girlfriend Jennie, of Edmonton; his daughter Tara Kaprowy and husband William, of Kentucky; sisters Angie Kaprowy, and Pam Bishop and husband Ken, all of Winnipeg; cousin Dennis Kaprawy and wife Maureen, of Arborg; cherished friends Ken and Jocelyn Heinrichs and daughter Kristin, of Headingley; friend and office manager Debbie Arnal, husband Brian and children Lindsay and Bret, of Winnipeg; and step-granddaughter Gabrielle Baker. Close friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 31 at Bardal Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bjarmi Cemetery in Arborg at a later date.
