MARY MOONEY Mary Mooney died peacefully on July 28, 2010, at Bethesda Place, Steinbach at the age of 96. She is survived by her daughters: Jean Mooney, Kathryn Copeland and her husband Don, and Phyllis Mooney. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Bill (Cathy) Hajnrych, Christine (Merle) Mooney, Cary Hajnrych, Sheilagh (Steve) Byler, Melissa (Kent) Breedlove, and Rob (Lisel) Copeland, and her much loved great-grandchildren: Christopher Hajnrych, Courtney, Jordan and Connor Hajnrych, Collin and Sean Byler, Joseph, Maggie and Jesse Breedlove, and Sophie, Walker, Lowell, and Jillian Copeland. She is also survived by her siblings: Lottie Mooney, Minnie Goossen, and Ernest (Elma) Giesbrecht. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Bill in 1997; son-in-law Fred Saunders; siblings: Albert (Nina), Edwin (Beth), Elizabeth (Tom) Wiebe, Anna (Ben) Penner, Katie (Frank) Toews, Josephine (Rollie) Barkman. She was also predeceased by in-laws: Isaac Mooney, Francis (Harold) Barkman, and Albert Goossen, and by her nephew, Bill Barkman. Mary worked hard as a domestic and a health care aide. After her marriage, she worked with Bill on the family farm. She was very involved with the school, church and 4-H activities with her daughters. She was a member at different times with the Women's Institute, United Church Women, and the Young at Heart group at the United Church. She was a talented crafts person who has left all of us with beautiful quilts and other projects. She was also a wonderful cook, gardener, and superb homemaker. The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Duerksen and the staff at Bethesda Personal Care Home for all their care.
