WILLIAM J. (BILL) SHUWERA October 12, 1916 July 30, 2010 Peacefully, with his family by his side, William passed away at Vita Health Centre on Friday, July 30, 2010 at the age of 93 years. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 69 years, Olga; daughter Bernice (Peter Antoniuk); grandchildren, Audra (Pat), Lyle (Tracy); great- grandson Zach; son Ben (Bev). Grandchildren, Cheryl (Michael); great-grandson Dana and Jeffrey. Robin, Rene (Mike) Shan and Shana and their families. He is survived by sisters, Mary, Josie, Sophie (Andy), Pauline and Elaine (Jim); brothers, Steve and Ben (Elaine) and numerous members of his wife's family. Dad was the eldest son of the late Iwan and Palahna Shuwera. He was predeceased by brothers, Peter, Marko, Wilmer, John, Matt and Mike; sisters, Olga, Lynn and Anne. Dad farmed in the Arbakka / Vita area before moving to the village of Vita. He worked in various jobs throughout his life, and later retired from Manitoba Hydro. Bill enjoyed the outdoors and loved to camp and fish, especially ice fishing at Moose Lake. An avid gardener, he took great pride in keeping his yard in immaculate condition. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 6, 2010 at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church in Vita, MB at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Father D. Leclaire officiating. Viewing will take place prior to the service, starting at 10:00 a.m. A private family interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one's choice.
