MARY ANNE DOROTHEA DEMPSTER (nee TAYLOR) March 10, 1921 - July 30, 2010 Our much beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend passed away peacefully with family at her side at the Grace Hospital. Predeceased by parents, Tom and Maggie, infant children Marilyn and Philip, and son-in-law Ken Cossette. Forever to cherish Mary's memory: her husband David of 68 years; her sister Violet; sister-in-law Kay; her children Dave (Diane), Mel (Janice), Patricia, and Mary (George); grandchildren, Kelley (Francis), Ken (Joanne), Kim (Sam), Sylvia (Paul), Shari, and Joanne (Mike), and great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Scott, Alexander, Matthew, Owen, Marrin, Grant, Ryan, and Jennifer. Mary was born in Winnipeg living most of her early life in Elmwood, was a member of C.G.I.T., and a graduate of St John's High School. Her marriage to David saw her living across Canada and in Europe, returning to settle in Winnipeg. After raising her four children in a happy and loving home, Mom re-entered the workforce at St. James Public Library becoming Head of Circulation before retiring in 1986. She was an innovative and caring supervisor, introducing puppetry story telling into the library. In 1992 she was awarded the Canada 125 Medal for her service to the community. Mary's love embraced all members of all ages of the Taylor and Dempster families, nothing was more important than getting everyone together. Mom personalized all relationships, set goals, motivated all and kept in contact through letters and phone calls with family and her many friends. She loved her family incredibly. She will be with us always guiding and influencing us to be our best as she did throughout her life. We love you Mom. The family would like to extend their gratitude for the compassionate and comforting care of the members of the Grace Hospital Emergency and Intensive Care Unit. The memorial service will take place Thursday, August 5 at 10:00 a.m., at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. A reception will be held following the service at Chapel Lawn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
