Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON JOHN BARON November 26, 1928 - August 4, 2010 Gordon passed away peacefully on August 4, 2010, at Carlton Gardens Nursing Home in Burnaby, BC at the age of 81. Gord was predeceased by his loving wife and best friend Florine (Birss) as well as his daughter-in-law Candace. He will be missed by his sons John (Shelley) and Mark (Renee), grandchildren Lexie and Stephanie, Krispen and Crystal, brothers Fred and Hank (Anne) and sister Marg (Gordon). Gord will be fondly remembered for his laughter, friendly nature and positive outlook on life. Gord enjoyed a successful banking career with Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce starting at Leader, SK in 1948 and retiring at Thunder Bay, ON in 1986. Along with his responsibilities and commitments to managing CIBC branches in many locations throughout his career, Gord was also was actively involved with numerous community service clubs and associations. In particular, Transcona, Dauphin, Flin Flon, Winnipeg, and Thunder Bay where he held several positions on the Executive or Board of Director's of numerous community service providers and hospitals aimed at improving community living. A special thank you to Terry Evans and all the friends and neighbours who supported Gord after Florine's passing. Thank you to Dr. Cameron and the Staff at Carlton Gardens for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Cancer Society would be appreciated. A celebration of Gordon's life will be held at Langley United Church, 5673 200th St., Langley, BC, 604-530-5912, on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with a tea immediately following the service.
