MARGARET GLADYS YOUNG (WHITNEY) It is with great sadness our family announces the peaceful passing of our cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Margaret Young, on August 4, 2010, at her home surrounded by the love of her family. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Wilfred; daughter Candy; grandson Gregory; daughter-in-law Terry; as well as her Mom and Dad; brothers, Archie, Jim, Ike; and sisters, Norma, Hazel, Grace and Frances. Margaret leaves to mourn her children, Robert Young, Wendy (Reiner) Ruf, Pat Young (Kevin Stewart), Donald (Darlene) Young and Victor (Gayle) Young; her grandchildren, Catherine (Darryl), Robert Jr., Christy, Brittany, Chad, Sean, Breanne, Brian; and great-grandchildren, Riley and Rorie. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Nellie (Gordon) Laing, Clara (George) Barthlette, many nieces and nephews, and especially her dogs, Nikki and Bandit. Margaret was born December 24, 1926 and grew up in Winnipeg. She married Wilfred on June 27, 1947. They had six children that they raised in the West Kildonan area. Mom enjoyed watching TV, reading and doing her rug hooking, she also loved listening to her country music and going to concerts like George Jones, Daniel O'Donnel and Neil Diamond with her daughter Pat. The family would like to thank the Palliative Care nurses especially Andre, and special friend Elaine Ennis for their care and compassion extended to our mom. Active pallbearers will be Robert Young, Donald Young, Victor Young, Robert Young Jr., Chad Young and Sean Ruf. Honorary pallbearers will be Reiner Ruf and Kevin Stewart. Funeral services will take place in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. on Monday, August 9 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Glen Eden Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association or CancerCare Manitoba, in Margaret's name.
