MARY COVERDALE (nee WIKANDER) Peacefully on Tuesday, August 3, 2010, Mary Coverdale, aged 96 years, formerly of Teulon, MB, passed away at Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall. She is survived by her niece Doreen; husband Jim Smith; and sons, Bradley (Nancy), Blaine (Meagan) and Bradon; sister-in-law Betty Coverdale and many nieces and nephews and their families from the Coverdale side. Mary was predeceased by husband Earl; parents, Olous and Magdalena; brothers, Oscar and Eric; sister Clara Wolden. Mary was born the daughter of Swedish Immigrants May 26, 1914 at home N.E. ΒΌ sec 21-16-1E. She attended Westerham School and worked as a housekeeper until her marriage. In 1942 she married Earl Coverdale and they farmed until 1960 when they moved into Teulon. Mary was an active member of the Red Cross during the war years, a member of the Teulon Agricultural Society, a long term member of the Teulon Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Teulon New Horizons Club. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 10 at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon. If friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to the Teulon Hospital or Goodwin Lodge. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Gateway Manor, Teulon Homecare workers and the staff at Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall for all the support and help in caring for Mary.
