Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPHINE MACKAY Josephine Elizabeth MacKay passed away at the age of 94 on the morning of July 30, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband Leslie Albert MacKay, brother Frederick Deason, sisters Mary Chalmers, Florence Gibney, Alice Irwin, and Kathleen Knight, as well as her son-in-law Wilfred Dowhy. Jo is survived by her son Darrell MacKay (Lorane), daughter Joy Dowhy, grandchildren Judd Dowhy, Christine Robertson (MacKay), Steven Dowhy, Darrin MacKay, and great-granddaughters Jaxton, Ella, Sophie, and Talie Jo Dowhy. Jo was born January 5, 1916 in Mowbray, Manitoba and worked on the family farm until she married Les MacKay in 1937. During their lives Jo and Les lived and worked in Crystal City, MB, Sault Ste. Marie, and Bruce Station, ON before settling for good in Winnipeg. Jo was an avid curler until the age of 82, and was past president and life member of the St. Vital Ladies Curling Club. After curling Jo took up lawn bowling and was active until the age of 90. Not to be deterred, she took up alley bowling for two years more. Interment has taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6, or the charity of your choice.
