GARTH H. MCCANN January 8, 1938 July 24, 2010 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Garth on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the age of 72 years. Garth is survived by his wife of 28 years, Leonila (Onie); son Sancho; daughter Marikit; brother Ivan (Rita) of Kelowna; nephews, Michael and Robert (Michelle); and sons, Noah and Logan; brother-in-law Peter; niece Tess (Paf) and children, Israel and Irene; nephew Bien (Len) and children, Dara and Anton; cousins, Les (Helen), Donna (David) and children, as well as numerous cousins, relatives and friends across Canada and the Philippines. Garth was born in Russell, Manitoba at Sacred Heart Hospital on January 8, 1938. He was predeceased by his mother Lucy Mary Smith and father Roy Mc Cann. Garth was a kind, loving and generous husband and father. He loved people and made friends wherever he went. Garth had a good sense of humour and was a gentle giant. Garth worked with the provincial government for 10 years and nearly 30 years with the Winnipeg Water Department. He was a longtime member of the Manitoba Orchid Society, enjoyed propagating and hybridizing orchids; and was also an avid bird watcher and nature lover in general. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Grace Hospital: in the emergency department, ICU and the third floor staff who all did their best to make his short stay comfortable. Special thanks are extended to Terry and Jenny Ciupka, Winnipeg Paramedics, Constable Novak of the Winnipeg Police, Chaplains Doris, Gordon and Roy of the Salvation Army, Msgr. Comeault, the Zeid family and everyone who in one way or another has supported us during this difficult time. Cremation has taken place according to Garth's wishes. A private family burial and service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or The Salvation Army, 500 55 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 1L8. We Love You, Garth. Rest In Peace
