Ada was born on December 7, 1910 in Treherne at her Grandpa and Grandma Hirds house, the second daughter, of Nelson and Jessie Smith. She was a caring child who loved to help her parents and older sister take care of her brothers and sisters. Ada attended elementary school in Hartford and MacGregor. The Booth/Madill family gained a wonderful daughter when Strachan John Alexander Booth and Ada were married in 1936. She worked in MacGregor as a care giver and as a retail store clerk, until the golf course opened in MacGregor, then she had better things to do. Ada was a talented curler, artist, golfer, bridge and cribbage player, and was also a keen fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Toronto Blue Jays. She was active at the MacGregor Senior Citizens Center and a member of MacGregor United Church. She will be joined in heaven by her parents; husband Strath; one daughter in infancy; sister Ruth; and brothers, Laurie, Ernie (Buster), Jim, Doug, Fred and Norman. Left to cherish her memory are her son David (Frances); granddaughters Judy (Rick) Janzen and Caroline (Clark) Anderson; sisters Betty Price and Hattie Pearson. Seven grandchildren survive her, in Calgary Christopher (Allie), Candice (Evan Jones), David and Daniel, and Velva, North Dakota Cassandra, Cole, and Cheyenne. Numerous nieces and nephews, great-and great-great nieces and nephews respected her and miss her. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the MacGregor United Church with Sandra Rex officiating. Interment will follow in the Austin Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the North Norfolk-MacGregor Foundation Inc., Box 696, MacGregor, MB R0H 0R0 or to the MacGregor United Church, Box 56, MacGregor, MB R0H 0R0. The family gratefully acknowledges her friends who visited and played cards with her, Dr. Samuels, for his many years of humour and compassionate care, the caring staff at the Macgregor Gladstone Personal Care Homes, and more recently the caring staff at the Portage Hospital.
